Afterschool Students Showcase Their Stepping Skills in New Jersey!

New Jersey After 3’s  3rd Annual Stepping Exhibition

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ – JUNE 11, 2009 – New Jersey After 3, a statewide network of afterschool programs dedicated to expanding afterschool opportunities for New Jersey’s kids, hosted their  3rd Annual Regional Step Exhibitions recently: Southern Regional Exhibition (5/16) at Trenton Catholic Academy in Trenton, NJ and Northern Regional Exhibition (6/6)at Caldwell College in Caldwell, NJ.

The exhibition showcased the skills learned and developed from training with President of Remo Productions, Jessica Morales who was featured on MTV’s “True Life: I’m Stepping”, as she won the National Championship with her team in January 2007

The New Jersey After 3 Stepping Program was instituted in partnership with Remo Production, as part of New Jersey After 3’s broader Sports, Health and Fitness Initiatives – aimed at increasing children’s physical activity levels  and reducing childhood obesity.  In addition to learning the stepping skills, it has also helped students to facilitate important character building components, such as self-esteem, discipline, conflict resolution and team work.

Joined by over 1,000 family and community members, approximately 500 student steppers (grades K-8) from the following 28 afterschool sites within the New Jersey After 3 network participated in both regional events:
