Mayra Ramirez
Senior Program Officer
Mayra Ramirez is the Senior Program Officer of New Jersey After 3, Inc., the nation's first statewide public/private partnership created to expand and improve afterschool opportunities. Mayra is responsible for grants and contract management for a portfolio of over 60 nonprofits totaling approximately $15 million serving over 100 schools in 16 NJ counties. She has 18 years of non-profit work experience and 13 years of executive management experience.
Previously, Mayra served as Director of Development and Director of Youth and Family Development at Jersey City Episcopal Community Development Corporation. She was responsible for corporate and foundation outreach, representing the agency at various public events, and coordinating efforts with other organizations on various state-wide initiatives.
Before joining JCECDC, Mayra spent several years as Assistant to the President at The First Occupational Center of New Jersey (OCNJ). As a key member of the executive team, she served as the right hand of the President and CEO in developing and implementing special program initiatives throughout the State of New Jersey. She Managed and supervised daily operations of the Education and Vocational Division, and several revenue generating businesses, such as the OCNJ Driving School and Shuttle services for various municipalities. She was responsible for developing the first van shuttle service designed to provide transportation services for individuals on public assistance in need of social support services within the Essex County. At OCNJ, her overall responsibility included managing 15 staff and over $ 2 million of county, state and federally funded programs located in Essex, Union and Monmouth counties.
Prior to OCNJ, Mayra spent several years working for New Jersey's premier Latino grassroots community base organization, La Casa de Don Pedro, Inc., as the Center Director of the Hispanic Women's Resource Center of Northern New Jersey. During her tenure at La Casa, her mission was to provide social services and job training designed toward moving Hispanic women from dependence to independence. While at La Casa, Mayra also served as the first Latina to serve as board chair of La Casa's Federal Credit Union, was a board member with Healthy Mothers/Healthy Babies of Essex, and was active on numerous Community Reinvestment Act Committees.
